How to Check if your MTN SIM card has been Registered

Due to the directive given to the various GSM networks in Nigeria by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC); MTN, Glo, Airtel, Etisalat and others are currently embarking on SIM registration exercise.

SIM registration is meant to help the GSM companies and the Government keep a record of subscribers in the country. More so,it will make the recovery of lost SIM cards to be easier and also assist law enforcement agencies in tracking down criminals."

So, How Do I Know If I have been Registered?

Well, just because you have been to the regsitration centre to register your SIM, does not mean you have been regsitered. There are some instances where registrations are invalid.

Now if you have already done your registration but still want ot be sure that you have been registered, here is what you can do:

- Send a text to 789 with the word "reg" without the quotes

After sending the text to 789 with your MTN SIM card, you should get a reply confirming or denying that you have been registered.

If you have been registered, you will get a reply saying "Your number has been registered. Thank you!"

This works for MTN numbers.

Cheers!
