While scanning the latest gists on Nairaland fronpage, I stumbled on a thread that explains steps in checking GTbank account balance via SMS. I followed the steps and I was able to get my GTbank account balance on my phone without internet access. Hence, I decided to share the info with you.
The GTbank SMS balance enquiry service works on any phone that can send and receive text messages. NO need for your phone to connect to the internet before you can receive your account balance on your phone, though the service only works with GTbank NUBAN (10 digits) account numbers.
How To Get Started
==> text Bal (space) NUBAN Number to 08100550000 or 08076665555
e.g if your NUBAN account Number is 0000000001,
type: Bal 0000000001 in a text message and send to 08100550000
After sending the text message, wait for the reply.
If no problem from both parties, you should receive your account balance on your phone.
I hope it works for you.
NOTE: You must use the phone number that your registered when opening your GTBank account. Sending the balance enquiry message with any other phone number will not work.
