Well, it simply prevents expiration of your domain name.

Forgetting to renew your domain name before it expires can have a huge impact on you and your business as everything connected to your domain will stop working immediately it expires. Someone else can even register your non-renewed domain names after they might have expired.

If you’ve registered your domain name at, you can autorenew, renew it before it expires and you can also reactivate it after it might have expired provided it is still available for registration.

I recommend Namecheap for Nigerians because the site is very easy to use and it also accept most of Nigerian ATM/debit cards. I have used my GTB NairaMastercard, UBA Visa AfriCard and Access bank Visa Card to make payments on the site. The site also accepts payment with Paypal account opened in Nigeria.
