My Nokia 3.1 Plus Android Phone : Unboxing Photos, Specs and Price in Nigeria

HMD Global, the makers of Nokia phones through one of their agents in Nigeria, gave me a copy of the 4G/LTE Nokia 3.1 Plus Android smartphone so I can let you see what it looks like and publish a review of the Nokia 3.1 Plus on this blog.

Mere looking at the retail box, it’s so obvious that the Nokia 3.1 plus is an Android One smartphone.

With only the most essential apps pre-loaded (including Google innovations), no bloatware, regular security updates and two years of software upgrades, Android One brings a Google designed software experience to the Nokia 3.1 Plus.

At the back of the retail box, you will see the Nokia 3.1 plus specs.

Now, let’s open the box.

Here is the Nokia 3.1 Plus Android smartphone built out of machined aluminum, combined with a die-cast metal interior for enhanced durability. Parts of the device are magnetic. Hence, metallic materials maybe be attracted to the device.

Let’s get back to the phone.

The Nokia 3.1 plus features 6.0 inches HD+ IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen, 720 x 1440 pixels resolution, 18:9 ratio display.

At the top of the screen is the earpiece and wide-angle 8 MP front camera with LED flash for selfies and video calls.

No physical soft keys. The navigation keys are placed on-screen.

The back of the Nokia 3.1 Plus houses a dual camera – the 13MP f/2.0 main module is joined by a 5MP depth sensor to deliver photos with bokeh effects as well as fast and accurate focus even in low light.

There’s also a fingerprint reader below the Nokia 3.1 Plus dual camera, the first in HMD’s entry-level lineup.

The are two speaker grills at the bottom, but only one appears to be for the speaker; the other one is for the microphone. The micro-USB port is placed just between.

The Nokia 3.1 plus volume control and power button are on the right hand side of the phone. You can take screenshots on the Nokia 3.1 Plus by making use of the power button + the lower volume control.

The headset/headphone jack is at the top of the phone.

There are two trays on the left hand side of the Nokia phone to accomodate 2 Nano SIMs and a memory card.

The one at the top is for SIM 2 while the one below, is for SIM 1 and MicroSD card.

More Features Of The Nokia 3.1 Plus

The copy I received is currently running stock Android 8.1 Oreo but I have discovered that I can easily upgrade it to Android 9 Pie over an unmetered WiFi.

The copy I received has 16GB of internal storage and 2GB RAM. I enabled “developer options” via Settings before I could check the RAM size of the Nokia 3.1 Plus smartphone. There is another variant of the Nokia 3.1 Plus with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage.

The phone features 3,500mAh non-removable battery. According to HMD, the MediaTek Helio P22 octa-core processor uses four efficient cores for basic tasks but can switch on all eight cores when it needs more power – this means less time worrying about your next charge and more time focusing on what matters most.
