Connect YouTube TV App On SmartTV To YouTube App on Your Phone Without Casting

YouTube has announced the introduction of a new feature that will give TV viewers a direct way to access the full power of YouTube at their fingertips while watching on their Smart TVs, making the TV experience even better and more interactive.

Before now, if you want to stream videos from the youtube app on your phone to the bigger screen of your smart tv, you would have to cast from the youtube app which also involves the use of chromecast device. More so, remote controls can be difficult to use and navigate with, most TVs don’t have web browsers built in, and you generally have less space to work with since you’re always watching video in a full screen experience.

Going forward, the new feature lets you effortlessly connect your TV’s YouTube app to your iPhone or Android phone’s YouTube app without casting. In addition, it incorporates the features you love about YouTube; from liking or commenting to engage with a video, to supporting your favorite creators by subscribing, joining channel memberships, or even sending a Super Sticker.

How It Works!

To try the new way of engaging with YouTube on TV, your phone and TV must be signed in to the same YouTube account. Open the YouTube app on TV, then open the YouTube app on your phone, and click “Connect” on the prompt that automatically pops up.

Now your phone will be synchronized to the TV, so you can directly interact with the video you are watching from the convenience of your phone. That means it’s easier than ever to read video descriptions, leave comments, share the video with a friend, or support your favorite creators by sending a Super Chat or becoming a member, all while you watch on the big screen.

YouTube says the new feature will work on all smart and connected TVs that have the latest YouTube app. It will also require that users are signed into YouTube on both the TV app and in the mobile version, and both are connected to the internet.

The feature will roll out across all platforms with the latest YouTube app over the next few weeks, YouTube says.
