For you to be able to use Reddit to its full potential, especially when you’re thinking of sharing your content with registered members of reddit.com (redditors), you have to understand what “subreddit” really means. This is a must for you to understand how reddit works.
A subreddit is what websites would normally call a category i.e each category of content on reddit is a subreddit. Each of the thousands of subreddits is a distinct community with its own purpose, standards, and readership. You can find subreddit for jokes, a subreddit for pretty girls, a subreddit for entrepreneurs and probably a subreddit for your country.
50 subreddits are visible on reddit homepage to new registered users as well as those that browse the site without registration. Subreddits created by you will be visible on your profile at reddit.com.
