Apple HomeView Price, Features and What It Can Do in a Smart Home

Apple has entered the smart display market with Apple HomeView, a new device designed to bring entertainment, communication and smart-home controls together in one place. It has a 7-inch display, Siri AI, a FaceTime camera and support for compatible smart-home accessories.

If you are searching for Apple HomeView price, what it does, whether it can serve as a smart-home hub, or how much it may cost in Nigeria, this guide explains its announced features, wall-mounted option and what Nigerian buyers should know before considering a purchase.

What Is Apple HomeView?

Apple HomeView is a smart display designed to act as a shared control centre for a home. It combines a 7-inch Liquid Retina touchscreen with speakers, a camera and Siri AI. Apple says it can be used to make FaceTime calls, play supported media, view personal information and control compatible smart-home devices.

Unlike a regular tablet, HomeView is designed to stay in a central place in the house, such as a kitchen counter, bedside table or hallway. It recognises up to six household members and can show each person a personalised home screen. Read the official Apple HomeView announcement for the manufacturer’s full description.

What Does Apple HomeView Do in a Smart Home?

Apple HomeView is intended to bring several everyday home functions to one screen. Its main announced uses include the following.

1. Control compatible smart-home devices

You can use the touchscreen or Siri to control supported lights, thermostats, door locks, blinds and other compatible accessories. HomeView supports compatible Matter accessories and Apple’s Works with Apple Home ecosystem, so check compatibility before purchasing smart-home products.

2. View compatible home security cameras

Apple says its Home Camera view can show live feeds from up to nine compatible cameras. With supported cameras and an eligible iCloud+ plan, HomeView can also support HomeKit Secure Video features, including notifications and video descriptions. These features depend on compatible equipment and services.

3. Make FaceTime calls and communicate around the house

The built-in camera supports FaceTime, while Center Stage is designed to keep participants framed during calls. Users can also read and reply to Messages and use Intercom to send announcements to compatible Apple devices and speakers around the home.

4. Play music and access entertainment

HomeView is designed for services such as Apple Music and Apple Podcasts, with audio hardware built into the display and base. Apple also lists Apple TV and compatible third-party audio and video apps, although app availability and the way particular services work should be checked before buying.

5. Display photos, calendars, reminders and useful information

HomeView can display shared photo albums and personalised information from apps such as Calendar, Messages and Reminders. It can also help with recipes, timers and finding supported Apple devices or items through Find My.

6. Use Siri AI for hands-free help

Apple says HomeView features a more conversational version of Siri with broader knowledge and onscreen awareness. Some personalised assistance depends on pairing it with a compatible Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone or iPad. Siri AI language and regional availability may vary, so check Apple’s current availability information if you plan to use the device in Nigeria.

Apple HomeView Price

Apple announced a starting price of US$299 for the standard tabletop Apple HomeView. The wall-mounted HomeView model also starts at US$299, but the required wall-mount and power accessory is sold separately.

Apple announced pre-orders from 13 October 2026 in selected markets, with availability beginning 13 November 2026.

Nigeria was not included in Apple’s initial list of direct-sale launch markets, so Nigerian buyers may need to wait for local availability or check reputable importers and reseller announcements. For the latest official details, visit the Apple HomeView product page.

Apple HomeView Price in Nigeria

Apple has not announced an official Nigerian retail price for HomeView. Using the Central Bank of Nigeria’s published central exchange rate of about ₦1,332.09 to US$1 on 14 October 2026, US$299 works out to approximately ₦398,000.

This is only a currency conversion of the US starting price, not a confirmed price in Nigeria. The final local cost could be higher after shipping, import charges, taxes, retailer margins and currency-rate changes. Availability, warranty coverage and after-sales support should also be confirmed with a seller before paying.

Apple HomeView Wall Mount: What Should You Know?

Apple offers a separate wall-mounted version intended for locations such as an entryway or hallway. It has the same 7-inch display and core feature set, but it is a distinct model rather than simply the tabletop device attached to a wall.

The required mounting and power hardware costs extra. Apple’s announced US prices start at US$59.95 for the USB-C Power Mount and US$79.95 for the AC-wired mount. A Power over Ethernet (PoE) wired option is planned for early 2027 at US$129.95. Installation requirements and local availability may affect the total cost in Nigeria.

At the 14 October 2026 CBN central exchange rate, those mount prices convert to roughly ₦80,000, ₦106,500 and ₦173,100 respectively, before shipping, taxes or retailer charges. These are estimates, not Nigerian retail prices.

Apple HomeView Review: Is It Worth Buying?

Based on Apple’s announced specifications, HomeView could be useful for people who already use an iPhone, Apple Home-compatible accessories and other Apple services. A shared display for smart-home controls, calls, reminders, photos and music may be convenient in a busy household.

There are a few things to consider before buying. First, it is most useful when your devices and accessories are compatible with Apple Home or Matter. Second, some personal-context features rely on a compatible Apple device, and Siri AI availability is limited by region and language. Third, the wall-mounted version requires additional hardware, which raises the total cost.

This is an overview based on announced specifications, not a hands-on review. Independent testing will be needed to judge real-world performance, reliability, sound quality and how well Siri AI works in everyday use.

Apple HomeView vs Apple HomePod

Apple HomeView and Apple HomePod are related to the smart-home experience, but they serve different purposes. HomeView adds a touchscreen and camera to smart-home controls, personal information and visual content. HomePod is primarily a smart speaker for audio playback and voice assistance.

If you mainly want music and voice control, a HomePod may be enough. If you want a screen for camera feeds, calendars, photos, FaceTime and touch-based controls, HomeView offers a different set of capabilities. Check current Apple HomePod price in Nigeria and HomePod mini separately, as prices vary by model, condition and seller.
