Deactivation of the Jumia Nigeria Affiliate Program

Few months ago, Jumia Nigeria started their affiliate program for bloggers and internet users to make money promoting the products on Jumia. To show that they did well with this, Jide made some money promoting just one product for Jumia via commission junction. I’m sure many of you applied for the affiliate program and may have also made some money promoting products.

However, few days ago, Jumia Nigeria sent out a mail to all their affiliate partners about the closure of the affiliate program. Here is the mail I got.

Dear Adesoji Adegbulu,
Unfortunately we have to announce that Jumia Nigeria will close the CJ affiliation program by December 31st.
All sales via CJ, which are generated before the 31st of December will be treated in the regular way and commissions for valid sales will be paid out.
Please be aware that all Jumia Nigeria links will not work anymore after 31st of December.
We would like to thank you for the great collaboration and cooperation.
If you have further questions regarding the affiliate program of Jumia Nigeria please do not hesitate to contact us.
Sincerly,
Your CJ Publisher Support-Team

The affiliate program via Commission Junction (CJ) will be closed on December 31st, 2013. As you can read, all commission will be paid out as at when due.

Now, the question is, is Jumia Nigeria stopping their affiliate program forever? What’s the reason behind the closure? Are they losing out of the ecommerce market already? There are so many speculations simply because Jumia Nigeria didn’t give reasons in their email. Also, there is a speculation that they are moving to another affiliate platform. If that is the reason, i think it should be communicated in their email.

What do you think about the deactivation of the Jumia Nigeria affiliate program?

I’ll be looking forward to your responses.

Regards,
Adesoji

  1. The question is, Is jumia closing the Affiliate program? or Closing its use of commission junction as its affiliate software. because as it is now, jumia is still running an affiliate program but with Commission junction excluded. i did register as a new affiliate and i have been accepted. So i suggest if jumia is to cancel the affiliate program itself , why accept new ? so, i don't think they are closing the affiliate program, They are just quitting cj which is quite too difficult for people to register.

  2. 4 days ago i registered on the new platform and there was nothing as such communicated to me. I was approved after 2 days of review and i am now an affiliate for jumia. So i think there is a mix up somewhere. I guess contacting the jumia team will be a great idea.

  3. Jide,
The affiliate programme of the merchant controlling the affiliate platform is a suspect.
When they were using CJ I used to make over $70 anytime I send mail to my subscribers and promote them. But on moving to their platform the last time I made 285naira. Is terible Nigerians

  4. This is really confusing for me. I did not get any email. At one time i was able to log in. At another, I could not. I create some campaigns. When i tried out the banner i was told told the page does not exist. So, i have dropped all Jumia campaigns from my blog. Like i said, its really confusing. But with this post, i guess i now have a fair picture of what the position is. Thanks SOJ.
