My New Samsung Galaxy Y Pro Duos (Cheap Dual SIM Android phone) : Features and Photos
Recently, I shared a post where I recommended Samsung Galaxy Y Duos and Galaxy Y Pro Duos as cheap Android phones you can buy. Today, I am delighted to inform you that I have purchased the Y Pro Duos and decided to share the cool features of the phone with you.
Included in the pack as seen below are: the phone, 2GB memory card, leather purse, earpiece, user guide and the warranty card.
Features of Samsung Galaxy Y Pro Duos
==> It is an Android phone that runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread
==> The screen is 2.6 inches in size.
==> 160 MB internal memory available, 512 MB ROM, 384 MB RAM with a card slot microSD
==> Has bluetooth, Stereo FM radio with RDS, GPS, HTML/Adobe Flash browser
==> Features MP4/WMV/H.264 video player and MP3/WAV/eAAC+ audio player
==> Supports microUSB v2.0, SMS(threaded view), MMS, Email, Push Mail, IM, RSS
==> Has QWERTY keyboard though not as sexy as my Blackberry keyboard
==> It has wiFi which also allows you to create wiFi hotspot which other devices can connect to
==> Has a 3MP camera at the back and also another VGA front-facing camera for self-portraits and video calls
==> In addition to the keyboard, it features capacitive touchscreen and optical trackpad. The touchscreen lets you easily select items or perform functions. You control the touch screen by tapping, tapping and holding or dragging across it.
==> It multitasks, allowing you to run multiple applications at the same time. To launch multiple applications, you will have to press the “Home” button on the keyboard while using an application and then select an application to launch. You can use the “Task Manager” to close opened applications.
==> It has space for two SIM cards, allowing you to receive calls on both SIMs anytime without switching. You only switch if you want to use the second SIM to make calls, text or surf the net and you switch by just pressing the switch button on the keyboard.
Note: There is a default setting that prevents calls from coming in via the second SIM when you are browsing the internet with the other SIM. You can disable this from the settings.
==> There is the Notifications panel where you can use shortcut menus and acess a list of notifcations such as new messages etc Tap the indicator icons area at the top of the screen and drag your finger down to open the notifications panel. To hide the panel, drag the bottom of the list up.
==> You can easily download free apps at Google Play (formerly Android Marketplace) and Samsung apps website.
There are many other features which I just can’t keep listing here and I hope to update this post with the disadvantages of the phone as time passes by, after I might have used it for a while.
I bought the phone for N35, 000 (approximately $215) at Katsina-Ala street, Makurdi, Benue state, Nigeria but am sure it will be far cheaper than that at Ikeja, Lagos, Nigeria.

The phone makes sense bro but how about the battery? Is it that strong?
It is not very strong but still OK. There are apps and tricks that makes it last longer.

Hey! i just bought the phone(Samsung galaxy y duos)on the 18 of august 2012 at the cost of 26,000 naira more than $200 in Aba,this phone is really fantastic for beginners who want to taste the android world,but jide how do i locate the front camera since i did not see any one located in the front of it,apart from the one at the back?
You will only see the front camera on Galaxy Y pro duos. galaxy Y Duos do not have front camera
Jide, pls how do I configure dis phone for browsing with my etisalat and mtn sims? I need to know how to set it up for browsing.
